Embassy of Azerbaijan in Doha and Qatar National Library celebrated 880 years of Nizami Ganjavi

Qatar National Library (QNL) and the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Qatar hosted an event to honour the great poet and thinker Nizami Ganjavi on the 880th anniversary of his birth. 

The event was inaugurated by H E Dr. Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kawari, Minister of State, Qatar and President of Qatar National Library, followed by a speech from H E Elnur Aliyev, First Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan. 

Dr. Mael Yagub, a PhD in Philosophy and the founder of the Academy of Philosophy and Sociology in Azerbaijan, also delivered a speech on the topic of “The Image of the Ideal Person and His Features in the Works of Nizami Ganjavi”.

The session explored the original copies of the works, as well as manuscripts, miniatures and paintings inspired by Nizami’s work which are preserved in the heritage library. Digital copies of these manuscripts were also presented to the Azerbaijani side.
